This web-based tutorial is designed to introduce Radford University students to the services and collections of McConnell Library and to teach information-literacy skills.

The Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education, published by the American Library Association, describes information literacy as the ability "to recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information....Ultimately, information literate people are those who have learned how to learn." (American Library Association. Presidential Committee on Information Literacy. Final Report.Chicago.1989. January 14, 2002.) In today's Information Age the ability to find needed information quickly becomes a determining factor in our ability to succeed in school and in the workplace.

McConnell Library in collaboration with the Radford University English Department has created this Library Tutorial to better support the new ACRL Information Literacy Standards.

The Library Tutorial consists of eleven sections, listed to the left, each focusing on a particular stage of the research process. Mousing over the module name will reveal the topics covered.
