McConnell Library Radford University

EndNote is now available to Radford University faculty, staff, and students!

What is EndNote?

EndNote is a software program, available for Windows and Macintosh, used to manage citations to books and articles. Time-saving features allow you to transfer groups of references retrieved from library and article databases into your EndNote database and create bibliographies in a variety of formats (APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.) using Microsoft Word.

Who should use EndNote?

EndNote is best for people who are working on large research projects involving many references. Faculty and graduate students will be the most likely users, although anyone on campus can install and use the software.

Also, a word of caution: EndNote cannot replace a basic knowledge of APA and other citation styles. It can be immensely helpful in organizing your citations, but you may need to ‘tweak’ the results for accuracy.

How do I use EndNote?

We offer workshops on EndNote during the Our Turn series for faculty, and teach Library Survivor workshops for students during the academic year. You can also download our abbreviated EndNote Manual.

How do I get EndNote?

EndNote is available on the Walker lab and McConnell Library computers. If you would like to use it on your personal computer, you will need to install it. Go to:

https://ru-portal.portal.radford.edu/rusoftware/Default.aspx

After you log in with your RU e-mail name and password, scroll down to "Student and Faculty/Staff Home Use" and click on the "Next" button. You will be brought to a page which includes links to EndNote for Windows and for Macs.

For installation questions, please contact Academic Computing at 831-7500 and choose the option to speak with an Instructional Technologist.

Please note that as the software is installed directly to your hard drive, you need to use EndNote on your personal computer. Frequent EndNote users will customize the program for their needs. Such customizations and fixes will not be found on the EndNote available on campus public computers.
