DOUBLE VISION: SECOND LIBRARY CLASSROOM COMING SOONA second library classroom is under construction in McConnell Library and will be available for the Fall 2004 semester. The new classroom is located in the northwest corner of the third floor of the library. It will contain the same equipment as the current classroom, but will be slightly larger. The library instruction program at McConnell Library has proven to be quite popular and the additional classroom will enable the Library Instruction program to continue to expand and teach more classes to more students. When the room is not used for library instruction, it will be available to faculty who may want to use the room for their own library related instruction. It will also be available to students as an open computer lab when not in use for teaching. Demand for computers in the library continues to be very high and the additional computers in the new classroom will help to relieve the pressure. The classroom will be equipped with computers containing the same university software available in the Walker Hall Computer labs.
Funding for the new classroom was allocated from the Vice President of Academic Affairs as part of the one-time funding anomaly in which all of Academic Affairs shared this year. REMINDER: While the room is under construction we hope to keep inconvenience and noise to a minimum. Please remember that the library’s 5th level is a designated quiet area and is available for those seeking an area more conducive to studying. Thanks for your patience as we improve our facilities. --Blair Brainard, Acting Head of Reference and Candice Benjes-Small, Reference/Instruction Librarian | |
