From the time it opened in the Spring of 1932, the Library maintained a register signed by whoever came in to the Library. Evidently, Dr. McConnell and his wife were given a preview tour of the library on May 21, 1932.

Two weeks later, the book was signed by E. Lee Trinkle, former governor of Virginia and Chairman of the State Board of Education; H.R. McIlvaine, State Librarian; and Frank Stone, partner in the architectural firm, Frye and Stone, that designed the library.

Dean of Women M'Ledge Moffett and Registrar Jeremy Whitt's signatures appear further down the page.

Ironically, someone made a mistake with the register because Dr. McConnell and others signed in on the book's second page.
