| The above image represents pictures taken from the 1938 and
1942 college annuals. Professor Gilbert was the first member of the
teaching faculty to witness the dedication of the Administration Building,
the first structure built on the campus of the State Normal and
Industrial School for Women at Radford. In addition to serving on
numerous committees in the college's early years, Professor Gilbert was
also elected Mayor of Radford on three occasions.
