Books and audiovisual Materials -
As an extended-campus student, you are entitled to have circulating
items such as books and audiovisual items from McConnell Library sent
directly to you at no charge.
To request an item
- Search the McConnell Library
catalog
- Identify an item you want
- Click on the "Request" button to request that the item be sent to you. If the item does not have a "Request" button it is either part of the library's Reference Collection, part of the Special Collection or an E- Book. Reference and Special Collection items do not leave the library, so you can not request these items. An E-Book is an electronic book and can be read online. Note: If the status of an item does NOT say available that item is not currently on the library's shelves and will not be sent immediately. A hold will be placed on the item and when it is available it will be sent to you.

- Enter your RU name and password (the same as used for your RU email account).
In the pull-down menu be sure to select "Home Address" if you want it to sent to your home.

- The following should display.

To return the item
- Mail directly to McConnell Library, using the
prepaid postage bag provided when you received the item.
Periodical Articles
If McConnell Library has an article you desire, but it is available only in hard copy (not online) format we will send it to you either in the mail or online.
- First, you need to make sure that full text of the
article is not available online and verify that we have it in hard copy for the date that you need.You will do this by one of these two methods below. If you are not familiar with how to do this select the relevant option and read the online guide.
- You will request the article you want using the Interlibrary Loan system. Within 2-3 days of your request, we will scan the requested article into the computer, and deliver it to you electronically via your Interlibrary Loan account.
- The way you access Interlibrary Loan depends on whether you used method A or B above.
