- For over thirty years the Highland Summer Conference has brought Appalachia's finest writers to the RU campus. Sponsored by the Appalachian Regional Studies Center at RU, the Highland Summer Conference features readings and interviews with scores of novelists and poets from the Appalachian Region. Many of these readings and interviews have been videotaped.
- The Highland Summer Conference Collection contains manscript collections from writers associated with the Conference, as well as streaming video of many of the readings and interviews recorded at the Highland Summer Conference.
